Recently Gill Scott has been working on images influenced by trees. She continues to experiment with materials and making methods, and loves the technical potential of printmaking to produce surprise.
She takes inspiration from the world, but then allows her plates, switching between different printmaking techniques and the combining effects of colour, to take on a life of their own.
Her work is often based around organic forms, and she plays with pattern and colour. She is fuelled by optimism, so her work is always a celebration.
For Scott, trees are things of enormous beauty and majesty. They are also a reminder of the symbiotic relationships all living things have on this planet, and a metaphor for family and the human and non-human interrelationships which sustain us.
